I’ve taken many incredible journeys—six of them are SOLO WITH A STORY adventures—Africa, Peru, Cuba, Egypt, Alaska, and Southeast Asia (India, Nepal and Bhutan). If you’re thinking about visiting these destinations you’ll want to take a look! I’m 70 years old, so if you’re questioning your own abilities, just ask yourself: “Can I keep up with a 70-year-old?”. Other adventures are typically with my wife Nancy and do not include a story.
I often travel without a guide and without a plan when traveling alone, which means spontaneity shapes my trips. The unexpected often turns out to be the most entertaining and educational part of the journey. I recently read a quote from Deepak Chopra, for whom I have always admired, Including his influencing my practice of Transcendental Meditation. Check out the footnote if you wanna read it.*
In a word; Africa was Challenging, Peru – Historic, India -Intriguing, Nepal -Spectacular, Bhutan – Magical, Egypt – Antiquity, and Alaska – Wild. Cuba? if I have to come yp with a word, Tragic would fit best. On October 30 2024 I visited CUBA (Season 6). I wanted to see the culture that I had heard about, but my research before leaving demonstrated that there is much more to this story. I learned that my fellow Americans have no idea of the difficulties these wonderful people endure every day. COVID was the final straw that brought CUBA to its knees and conditions there are truly tragic. It is a humanitarian crisis, so I turned it into a humanitarian mission. Here is the U.S. we remain ignorant to a tragedy just 90 miles from our border. This story continues to receive the most hits, now well over 10,000.
I will continue to produce more stories, but for now, choose from these:

* Deepak Chopra Quote: “Having seen the entire world, I think that’s the best education you can get,” he said. “That’s the best way to understand other cultures, to cultivate empathy and compassion, and to understand that every culture has its own beauty. There would be less conflict in the world if more people traveled.”
“I think people plan too much”. “They spend months planning, and then during their vacations they get stressed out. Then once they come back from a wonderful vacation, they have to recover from the stress. So I would say don’t plan, be spontaneous. Of course, plan the trip, but don’t get into too many details. Make room for the unknown and the unknowable so that every day is a surprise and an experience of wonder and adventure.”
